THOMAS DEVAUX | MUSÉE CHARLES PÉGUY: SOLO EXHIBITION

6 July - 28 September 2019

Thomas Devaux presented his series Cet Obscur Objet du Désir in a solo exhibtion at the Musée Charles Péguy in Orléans.

The Musée Charles Péguy welcomes polymorphous artist Thomas Devaux, who is interested in the reconstruction and erasure of bodies. Between photography and painting, in a vaporous cloud, the current work of this photographer and visual artist simultaneously sanctifies and profanes, transforming flesh into astonishing aurora borealis, faces into strange divinities and ethereal madonnas. The beauty of the devil, the angelism of evil. In Orléans, two recent photographic series are presented, as part of an installation entitled Cet obscur objet du désir. In Les Rayons, the film-school-educated artist reappropriates the codes of abstract expressionism, blurring supermarket stalls to a paroxysm of evanescence and attraction. As a counterpoint, The Shoppers captures customers in black-and-white at the checkout.
